We review different parts of the user experience based on the design principles that were defined by the UX team. The design principles define and communicate the key characteristics of a product. They enable next steps and help prioritization. The outcome of the workshop are identified opportunities and new ideas for product improvements.
Empathy & alignment workshops
Recently I ran an empathy workshop to create a shared understanding amongst the management and the product team of user needs, who the users are, and the user experience. I used insights from surveys, interviews and created a context map of common patterns that impact the success of our business. By highlighting the risks and opportunities, the team was able to make strategic decisions and re-align on the vision and business model.
Discovery workshops
Discovery workshops with the squad or other stakeholders is the place to review qualitative and quantitative data and capture insights from the experts. Activities include brainstorming and discussing ideas and questions. I recently ran a discovery workshop for improving traffic conversion. I brought in the customer journey map the quantitative data of the traffic funnel in our product to give an overview. I also run recurring discovery workshops with my dedicated squad to collect ideas before the quarter planning.
